Orange Pecan



One of the most frequent questions we get is, “Where do you get all the ideas for the cookies you make?” The inspiration comes from a whole host of places, but here is where the latest idea came from.  


Recently, we hosted a cookie baking contest at the Iowa State Fair and were treated to some very interesting entries, including a recipe for an orange-flavored, frosted cookie. Although this cookie didn’t win any of the awards, we felt that it was unique enough to merit further attention.  


We contacted Rick Fleener, who entered the cookie, and asked if he would mind if we worked with the recipe a bit and featured it as the September offering for our Cookie Club members. He agreed and provided us with the original recipe, which was from his grandmother, Dorothy Farmer.
